Pete Donnelly
Pete Donnelly has been a wheelchair user for 16 years and spent more than a decade working in Third Sector disability organisations. Pete is the Founder of The Wheelchair Skills College, driving forwards a vision of ensuring that every wheelchair has access to build confidence and independence. Something he believes is more than a ‘nice to have’ and is in fact a human right.
Pete brings a wealth of experience from working local, national and global charities focusing on empowering disabled people through skill development, advocacy and campaigning for a more inclusive society.
Whether the challenges Pete has faced are taking 71-hour train journeys across the Kazakh step, driving through the mountains in the Kurdish region of Iraq or struggling to get on the 344 bus to work because the wheelchair space is full of prams, disability has taught him resilience and has given unique insight into life for the world’s largest minority.
