Joe’s presentation is about his journey with autism, from school to adulthood. He talks about what strategies were used in school for certain behaviours, and if they didn’t work, then he explains why. Joe also discusses his independence at College and anxieties that occurred during this time.
Joe is 25 years old and has had his diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder since he was 6 years old.
Joe attended mainstream education until he was 11, when he went to another mainstream school but with an Autistic Resource Base attached. After school Joe attended further education for 4 years and achieved a Level 5 HNC in IT with Distinctions throughout. Unable to secure employment, he decided to
give talks to schools and colleges; Joe has also had a very successful presentation at the Autism Show in London 2018 and at Naidex in 2019.
