We will examine the relevant law and guidance available to those of us assessing the manual handling needs of children and young people. We will use this information to gain a clearer understanding of our roles when working with families, schools, care teams and others. We will move on to look at some practical hints and tips relating to manual lifting of smaller children.
Elizabeth is a Chartered Physiotherapist of over 30 years experience. Working independently, she carries out manual handling risk assessments of people of all ages, mostly in community settings, commissioned by case managers, solicitors, family members and CCGs. Elizabeth also devises and delivers manual handling training, often tailored to meet the needs of a professional group such as paediatric therapists, or around the needs of an individual client.
