In the 21st Century future-planning is essential. With Statutory funding becoming increasingly squeezed it necessary to urgently consider alternatives to long-term care placements. One solution already widely adopted in Europe, is multi-generational living.
In her presentation Elaine will cover the pros and cons of this lifestyle, the roles of the Occupational Therapist and Interior Designer and how a successful outcome is dependent on working in partnership with all family members.
Prior to becoming an Independent Practitioner in 2011 Elaine had a long career as an Occupational Therapist working in NHS and Local Authority settings and employed in managerial and Senior Clinical roles.
In 2009 Elaine studied Interior Design at The National Design Academy in Nottingham and was awarded the prestigious Diploma in Professional Interior Design. In 2011 she left the NHS and founded DESIGNATE – a unique health-focused Inclusive Interior Design service for people of all ages who are in good health or have minor or major health conditions. Placing her clients at the heart of the design process and working closely with architects surveyors and multi-disciplinary teams she creates beautiful 21st Century environments that are safe functional but non-clinical enabling individuals and families to achieve and enjoy harmonious aspirational living.
Elaine’s aim is to make functional fabulous!
