AMA@HOME: Learn martial arts and self-defence from the comfort of your living room.

Adaptive Martial Arts CIC who specialises in Martial Arts training for people of all abilities and disabilities can’t wait to talk about their innovative AMA@HOME at Naidex.

During lockdown we like everyone were forced to adjust our training from our regular face to face sessions to zoom, we had always wanted to create online content but struggled for time. Covid-19 forced our hand, we had great up take for our online sessions however not everyone had a partner to work with or equipment.

These led us to creating an innovative training package which brings the gym to the comfort of user homes. AMA@HOME is a programme where people can join an initial 12-week programme to learn martial arts and self-defence but also barrow equipment to use. After the 12-week course people could then move on to more advanced training if they wished. We will also be making the techniques from the classes available online to support practice and if someone was to miss a class.

With the support of grant providers we are able to provide equipment for 20-30 participants. A typical equipment pack will come in a holdall with kickshield, boxing or mma gloves, focus mitts, resistance bands, agility markets, 5KG slam ball and a grappling dummy. We also have a limited supply of free standing boxing bags and aqua balls.

Our original plan was to launch this programme at Naidex during the provisional date in November 2020, unfortunately when this was delayed we had to launch without this, we were looking forward to doing a big launch at our stand.

We are looking forward to showing everyone in September our equipment packs as well as some of what you can learn in the sports arena and answer any questions you may have.

As part of this programme we teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), wrestling, boxing and self defence alongside a dedicated fitness class. All the classes will be open to all with age ranges from 6 upwards, we adapt all of exercised to our participants.

With AMA@HOME we are no longer limited to just Bristol/Bath regions and are able to teach any one across the country via zoom. Each class will have a limited number of participants.

We will also be continuing AMA@Home alongside our face to face classes when these are able to return, giving members of AMA@Home the opportunity to come train Face to Face with us if they would like. Equally if we get a large group of interested parties in one area we can look to set up a regular face to face training group also.

We are looking forward to discussing AMA@Home at Naidex, answer any questions people have.

Keep any eye on our facebook for a survey discussing when people would like classes and what you would like from AMA@home.

Since starting Adaptive Martial Arts we have seen the benefits that Martial Arts can bring to people whether that is fitness, confidence, or the social aspect.

We hope in the future also to be able to launch a competition team to demonstrate Adaptive Martial Arts across the country and abroad. Our CEO Gina has previously competed in competitions across the UK and in America.
