Mobility aids company, Urathon, was handed the Best in Show title at Naidex last month for its Hero powerchair, part of the brand's first-ever range of powerchairs.

The Hero was selected as the winner from among hundreds of products showcased at the event by Tom Jamison, Editor of Able Magazine, who highlighted its “smooth styling” and “practical features”.

Lucy Carson, Managing Director of Urathon, said: "We’re absolutely over the moon to have won this award.

“We’re proud of all our products, which we design, manufacture, and source with our customers in mind. But the Hero is special, because it is designed to stand out and is perfect for people who want to express themselves, something they want to be proud to be seen in.

"Just as not everyone wants to drive a standard, black car, not everyone who uses a powerchair wants it to look ordinary."

The Hero, available in Ruby Red or Matt Onyx Black, has a lightweight aviation‑grade carbon‑fibre frame designed to provide durability while remaining easy to handle.

The chair folds for transport and storage and includes a padded backrest and memory‑foam cushion intended to support comfort during daily use.

It is powered by twin 250W motors and a removable lithium battery, offering a range of up to 10 miles and the ability to manage slopes of up to 12 degrees.

Controls are designed to be straightforward, and the fold‑up armrests support accessibility. The chair also provides 7cm of ground clearance for navigating everyday terrain.

Able Magazine has been the headline media partner of the Naidex event for over 15 years, and by tradition, the editor of the publication selects their choice of product to receive the Able Magazine Naidex Best in Show Award.

Commenting on his selection this year, Tom said: “The Hero is going to be a great hit with anyone who wants to grasp their independence – and look good doing so. The smooth styling and practical features make this powerchair a real thoroughbred – and a worthy winner of the Best In Show Award.”
