A home care provider on the Isle of Wight has been recognised at a national awards ceremony for its outstanding commitment to the community.
Right at Home Isle of Wight, owned by Vicky and Paul Butler, was named the winner of the Community Impact Award at the prestigious BFA HSBC British Franchise Awards, beating strong competition from a range of sectors across the UK.
The ceremony, held in Telford earlier this month, celebrated the best of British franchising - and the judges were particularly impressed by the Butlers’ commitment to making a positive difference to lonely and elderly residents.
Last December, the couple rallied local businesses and volunteers to host a Christmas Day lunch for those who would otherwise face the festive period alone.
Vicky and Paul also launched the Older Persons Good Living Show to showcase businesses and services on the Island which support older people to remain living independently in their own homes.
Now in its third year, the show has grown from a small local event to feature around 45 exhibitors and welcome more than 500 visitors.
Commenting on the win, Paul Butler, Owner & Managing Director of Right at Home Isle of Wight, said: “Vicky and I are in complete shock about our win at the British Franchise Awards.
"These awards are so highly thought of within the Right at Home network — it was a privilege to even be shortlisted, so to now find ourselves as BFA award winners is unbelievable.
"This recognition wouldn’t have been possible without our incredible team, who work so hard to provide the very highest standards of care for our clients and to support the wider community.”
Lucy Campbell, CEO of Right at Home UK, described Vicky and Paul as the “embodiment of what community-driven franchising looks like”.
She added: “They lead with heart, purpose and a deep understanding of what truly matters to the people they support. Their commitment to tackling loneliness, creating opportunities for social connection, and championing inclusion on the Isle of Wight is nothing short of inspiring. We couldn’t be prouder to see them recognised at this level.”
The British Franchise Awards, often described as the “Oscars of franchising”, are hosted annually by the British Franchise Association (BFA), the UK’s self-regulatory body for franchising.
