From AI monitoring lightbulbs to fall-detecting socks, Care & Dementia 2026 brought together an exciting range of innovations that are not only supporting people to live well with dementia but also enabling providers to deliver preventative and personalised care.

Here, we spotlight some of this year’s exhibitors that are revolutionising dementia care and  support.

Lumiio

Lumiio is a smart solution designed to protect vulnerable people, including those living with dementia, by enabling the instant and secure sharing of essential information via wearables, such as wristbands and hang tags.

All Lumiio wearables use NFC technology to safely store and transfer information, including the wearer’s name, details about them, such as ‘I live with dementia’, and emergency contact details.

If someone is lost, in distress or needs urgent help, anyone nearby can scan the product using their smartphone to access this information and alert the appropriate person or emergency service.

Research from the University of East Anglia suggests that up to 70% of individuals that live with dementia will go missing at least once during the progression of the disease. Lumiio is designed to provide peace of mind to families and carers.

Quiot Life

Quiot Life is a new 24/7 monitoring and response service, launched to enable people to live safely and independently at home, without the need for cameras and wearables.

The solution, which made its public debut at Naidex 2026, equips homes with sensors that use millimetre-wave radar, the same sensing technology used in advanced driver assistance systems, to detect falls, sudden changes in position, extended inactivity and unusual movement patterns.

These sensors interpret body movement only, so no images are captured and no visual data is recorded.

When a concern is detected, an alert is transmitted instantly to Quiot Life's 24/7 monitoring centre, where a qualified care professional reviews the situation and decides on the appropriate course of action, such as contacting the individual, alerting a family member, coordinating with care providers, or calling emergency services.

Widgit

Widgit creates symbol-supported communication tools for people with dementia, autism, learning disabilities and other neurodiverse or cognitive profiles.

People living with dementia and those who are neurodivergent often face challenges with processing written language, short-term memory, executive function, or sensory overload. In busy or complex care environments, this can lead to distress, missed information, or reduced autonomy.

Widgit addresses this by making information instantly understandable through symbol-supported text and visual cues; reducing cognitive load with structured layouts, consistent design, and plain language; enabling independence with signage, timetables, routines, and personalised care materials; and supporting carers and professionals with ready-to-use templates, guides, and training that fit into everyday practice.

Bibetta

During Care & Dementia 2026, Bibetta showcased its range of clothing protectors and dignified adult bibs.

Designed in the UK and made with carers and wearers in mind, the neoprene waterproof bibs can be worn all day to protect the wearer’s clothing, while maintaining a sense of dignity and style. Products include modern scarf-style designs with popper fastenings and waterproof backings and absorbent tabard style bibs for mealtimes.

All clothing protectors are soft to touch and made with durable materials to withstand daily washing and repeated use.

Circadacare

Circadacare is a smart lighting solution designed to stabilise wake and sleep patterns and reduce distress in people with dementia.

The TEC ecosystem, which fits into a regular light bulb fitting, uses circadian lighting, which automatically adjusts throughout the day, mimicking natural sunlight patterns to help improve mood and social engagement.

Additionally, Circadacare integrates AI monitoring, which learns normal patterns of behaviour, creates insights for preventative care and raises alerts to sudden deviations for immediate reactive care.

The system is used by care homes and housing associations to improve wellbeing, prevent falls and reduce operating costs.

Grandbar Snacks

Another exhibitor which caught the attention of visitors at Care & Dementia was Grandbar Snacks, the maker of small and nutritious cakes designed to support low appetites.

Made in an artisan bakery in Gloucestershire, the cakes were created by Mary Merheim, Nutrition Advisor for the elderly and author of Navigating Nutrition in Later Life, to support her own father in his later years.

They come in three flavours - lemon, milk chocolate and dark chocolate and ginger – and are free of gluten and artificial flavours.

In 2023 Grandbar Snacks won Gloucestershire Foodie Start-up of the Year Award and is now the official snack for “Fore” Get Me Not Golf, a nationwide initiative that aims to empower people with dementia through the game and support of golf clubs.

Milbotix

Milbotix attended Care & Dementia 2026 to present SmartSocks COMFORT, a fall prevention and distress management solution for residential and domiciliary care.

Developed in collaboration with Alzheimer's Society, SmartSocks feature an embedded sensor which measures the wearer’s movement and captures physiological data. This includes indicators of a “fight-or-flight” response, such as electrodermal activity (sweat), pulse rate, respiratory rate, and skin temperature. Algorithms running in the cloud compute gait, activity, and stress metrics on the sock data which are translated into interpretable mobility, activity and calmness scores.

When the wearer’s mobility, activity or calmness index shows a sustained decrease, an alert can be sent to the caregiver’s smartphone prompting them to provide additional monitoring or support.
