Paralympic judoka, Ben Quilter, will deliver an inspiring talk on the transformative power of sport on disabled people during the inaugural Naidex Roadshow South this September.
Born in Brighton, Ben is visually impaired after developing Stargardt disease in 1992. Despite his disability, he spent 16 years as a World Class Performance Athlete and competed at multiple VI World and European Championships as well as two Paralympics, winning bronze in London 2012.
Ben’s personal journey has shown him first-hand just how life-changing sport can be, and he is now supporting others to follow a similar path in his role as Athlete Recruitment Manager at ParalympicsGB.
“That lived experience drives my passion for this work and the difference we can make in helping others discover their potential,” he said.
During Naidex Roadshow South, Ben will take to the Naidex Professionals stage, a dedicated space for neuro-rehab professionals, to talk about the skill, discipline and resilience of visually impaired athletes competing at the highest level.
He’ll also explain how healthcare professionals can play a key role in encouraging disabled people to get into sport.
Speaking ahead of the event, Ben said: “I’m really looking forward to attending the Naidex Roadshow and connecting with professionals who share a passion for supporting disabled people to engage in sport.
“At ParalympicsGB, we offer signposting opportunities through our Everybody Moves programme and our Paralympic Potential initiative—both designed to support anyone who wants to become more physically active, whether that’s for health, enjoyment, or even with the ambition of one day competing at a Paralympic Games.”

Naidex Roadshow South will take place at the Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre on September 9.
