Samantha is an experienced Occupational Therapist who has gained a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience working in both hospital and community environments for NHS and Local Authority organisations.
Samantha is passionate about ensuring people receive dignified and safe moving and handling advice and is committed to supporting and encouraging people to remain as actively engaged as possible in their own care. In achieving this she has considerable experience delivering flexible, cost effective, person centered approach to meet the moving and handling, and care needs of people in the community.
Samantha has recently joined Deborah Harrison as a trainer at A1 Risk Solutions. A company specialising in moving and handling with dignity, and single-handed care.
Sling fitting can cause fear and anxiety, for people with dementia this is often expressed through distressed and challenging behaviours. In this session we will consider the signs, and triggers, of distress and explore approaches to reducing the associated challenging behaviours when fitting a sling to improve the experience of the individual.
