After being introduced to swimming aged 3, following advice that it would help with her Cerebral Palsy, Liz Johnson has been crowned Paralympic Champion, laid the final tile in the London 2012 aquatic centre, was bestowed the honour of reading the athlete’s oath at the Opening Ceremony for the London 2012 Paralympic Games, before claiming another Paralympic medal in her home Games. In April 2016, Liz announced her retirement from competitive swimming, after a hernia operation put her behind schedule with training. Liz now devotes her time to using her own experiences to have a wider impact. Liz joined the Channel 4 team for the Rio Paralympics & worked on BBC’s coverage of Invictus Games. She was also a competitor in the BBC’s Celebrity Masterchef 2016. Most recently Liz has co-founded The Ability People – a recruitment company staffed by people who have barriers to conventional working environments.
