How do you communicate when you have low sight and hearing?
This fascinating session will explore options for communicating beyond words; Socio Haptic Communications and Tactile Transition.
We will consider how to convey complex messages about the environment, situation and atmosphere and how someone who is deafblind can get a detailed understanding of the world around them. Can understanding the whole-body tactile experience support this? Can it help to regulate energy, deal with stress, support clearer communication?
Liz is an experienced learning facilitator and researcher in the Deafblind sector, with a special interest in the use of the tactile sense. She is part of an international research team looking into the tactile transitions experienced by people who are deafblind and for the first time in the UK, presents some of that work here at Naidex.
