Since the publication of the HSE Guidance: Getting to grips with hoisting people, Julia has continued to look at ways to ensure the hoisting of people is as safe as possible.

A registered nurse and a moving and handling Practitioner, delivering a wide range of moving and handling training for Trainers, risk assessors, staff and family members.
The training is primarily for ‘people who assist and move people’ in a variety of settings including hospitals, care homes, hospices, special schools and people’s own homes.
Julia was an author and co-editor of The Handling of People, 6th Edition, contributed to the MHRA NHS patient safety alert on falls from hoists, and co-wrote the NBE Hoisting leaflets. She is an active member of her local National Back Exchange group, having Chaired the group, as well as spending time on the NBE Executive Committee as National Secretary and National Chair. She currently Chairs the NBE Professional Affairs Committee.
