Words like assistive technology are often not understood. Mobile phones are generally used in society. Few use the same technology to provide a service, track our records, save energy, time and money, In Estonia 93% of the population do this every day and are happier and healthier. Direct contact with health and welfare assists to reduce the myth the ‘doctor is always right’! A few GP’s provide online access, why not yours. Other technologies follow on from there.

About Maggie Ellis

Maggie Ellis originally qualified with a Diploma and later graduating as an Occupational Therapist, working in a range of service provision including management of physical disability, mental health and learning disability services, sometimes combining NHS and Social Services, sometimes linking orthotics, prosthetics and wheelchairs. She has been Chairman of the British OT Association (now RCOT). and of the European OT Committee and has also been a Member of several university and research boards. EU and ISO Technical Committee Membership brought wider experience, linking user needs with planners and policy makers, especially concerned with Appropriate Design and Practice for People with a Disability, including Accessible Transport. Maggie is currently a Member of some ISO Technical Committees for similar topics. She also Coordinates the European Group for eTechnology.
