British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists (BAPO)
The British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists (BAPO) was established to encourage high standards of prosthetic and orthotic practice. It is committed to Continued Professional Development and education to enhance standards of prosthetic and orthotic care. BAPO is the only UK body that represents the interests of prosthetic and orthotic professionals and associate members to their employers, colleague Allied Health Professionals and all groups that are involved in the field of prosthetics and orthotics. BAPO enjoys the support of a high majority of the profession as members. BAPO works at a national level to promote and maintain our member’s clinical excellence and service to the patient to all organisations involved in prosthetics and orthotics. It does this through the publication of its guidelines for best practice which outline the way clinicians should be working amongst patients and within a multi-disciplinary team. Annually, BAPO organises the UK’s main P&O conference and develops and runs educational courses which run at a discounted rate for members. BAPO runs on voluntary basis and will always welcome students onto its committees. By being on a committee you will be able to act as a student voice and help shape the future of the profession. To see current observer positions please visit the student page on the BAPO website.
