Disability Sports Channel

Stand: N477
Disability Sports Channel is a nonprofit organisation designed by a group of athletes with a passion for promoting the sports we love. The organisation was founded after the realisation that there was a gap in the market for disability media. The staff that work for the organisation all have a variety of different disabilities. Disability Sports Channel mission is to ensure the growth and elevation of thought to create a foundation for self-betterment, achievements and positive lifestyle change. Disability Sports Channel will lead, inspire, and mentor disability people to embrace their power, purpose, and value, and to take responsibility for their relationships. We encourage them to stay embrace healthy, active lives and avoid negative societal influences and also aim to ensure the growth and elevation of thought to create a foundation for self-betterment, achievements and positive lifestyle change. We are dedicated to promoting empowerment of people, protection of the environment, and respect for cultural diversity. We are passionate about showcasing disability sports. We believe that to inspire the next generation of athletes; there needs to be an equal opportunity to be able to view disability sports. As we know, disability sports do happen every four years for the Paralympics, but every week of every year there are other events and competitions going on. Our goal is to celebrate and share these events with the world. Our core of values: We treat all people with dignity and respect, always with the understanding that we are part of one community We are advocates of a nonprofit organisation We are committed to innovation and best practices in our programs Target Audience: We will be working with disabled athletes and disability sports groups from different parts of the country to be the front and centre of the disability sports channel movement. We want to allow everyone to be heard. Our Impact: We believe that our idea will have a massive impact on disabled people. A recent survey that was carried out by The Great British Wheelchair Basketball Association showed that 78% of members said that wheelchair basketball had had a positive impact on their mental health. Giving them a platform to express themselves and their sport will give all disabled people an opportunity to see what is out there and available to them.
