Matthew Lamb has developed an expertise in data protection and data security, with a particular speciality on the GDPR. He was one of the first people to graduate from the Henley Business School GDPR Transition Programme and now leads The Data Guardians as Managing Director.
Matthew is an experienced senior manager who has directed companies in Europe and Africa over many years. For most of the last 15 years he has been a Managing Director in the security risk management sector, advising companies on how to assess and mitigate their commercial, security and political risks when operating in new and potentially high-risk countries.
Matthew’s senior management experience means that he knows full well the difficulties of ensuring corporate compliance with a variety of regulations and therefore is able to properly advise companies on practical measures to ensure compliance with data protection laws.
Matthew Lamb, Managing Director of The Data Guardians will be giving practical advice on how to remain compliant with the various data protection laws that will come into effect in 2018. He will cover both the technical and organisational measures that need to be put in place and how to demonstrate compliance to all stakeholders, including the regulators. Maintaining compliance is not just about having a good firewall and virus checker. Having the correct policies and procedures and regularly auditing them, as well communicating the legal basis for processing your customers’ personal data, and asking for their consent to be marketed to, is vital.
Finally, what would you do if your organisation’s personal data was hacked or ended up in the public arena? Matthew shall be discussing what needs to be in place to be prepared for such an incident.
