As the manager of elderly care in the city of Tampere I am responsible for the institutional services and housing services for elderly people as well as home care. The whole responsibility covers the strategic planning, the operative management, developing the services and internal processes and the human recourse processes. As the institutional care represents a remarkable portion of the whole city’s personnel I also participate in developing the human recourse processes for the whole city. The personnel in that sector is about 1500 and the turnover in 2017 is estimated to be around was 150 million euros. I have a Master’s Degree in Public Health, a Master of Business Administration in Social and Health care (MBA) and a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, papermaking.
The first part of the seminar covers how elderly people care is organized in Finland. The focus of the second part of the presentation is in virtual home care including a few examples of the virtual home care visits and the content will be presented. The seminar ends by highlighting the benefits of the remote care service as well as some challenges that the city of Tampere needed to overcome while implementing such service.
