'Go Kids Go' Zone

This year we are delighted to announce that The Association of Wheelchair Children (AWC) will be putting on ‘Go Kids Go’ Zone Wheelchair Training Sessions once again within the KideQuip area.
 Association of Wheelchair Children
‘Go Kids Go’ Zone will see the national charity AWC host free of charge training events specifically tailored to the needs of disabled children, concentrating on practical aspects of wheelchair skills such as road safety, wheelies, kerb work and coping with rough grounds and slopes.

Such training allows wheelchair-using young people to move safely about their homes and neighbourhoods and can have an extremely positive affect on their confidence and independence.

To provide an element of fun, AWC will also be running ‘Have a go’ sessions throughout the three days, featuring wheelchair games, challenges, dance sessions and an introduction to wheelchair basketball. Spare wheelchairs will be available so that non-disabled parents and siblings can join in with the fun.

BBC presenter Ade Adepitan is a patron of AWC.  Ade learnt his wheelchair skills with us in his early teens - why don’t you?
Meet Ade in the Go Kids Go Zone on Wed 21st April!

Go Kids Go are the only UK charity whose primary function is to provide wheelchair skills training for young people. We run free courses for young wheelchair users throughout the UK and Ireland.

We can run a course wherever there is a need. We work with children and young people from 18 months to 18 years of age (although we often have adult wheelchair users joining our courses to assist or to learn the skills themselves). Our therapists have a wealth of experience and our organisation has been running wheelchair training for over 25 years (we grew out of the ‘Newham Rollers’). We also run practical wheelchair skills workshops for professionals, training in universities for physiotherapy and occupational therapy students and disability awareness courses in mainstream schools.
