The Founder and CEO of Handiscover Sebastien Archambeaud and his family love traveling. When the doctor confirmed his son had a muscular disease, he decided he wouldn’t let it keep his family from their globetrotting ways. However, it was never easy to find an accommodation that suited their needs.

"We realise how challenging it is for a family like us to find accessible accommodations because the term ‘accessibility’ has always been open for wide interpretations."

As such, Sebastien found Handiscover in 2015, aiming to help those with limited mobility to find travel accommodations adapted to their individual needs.

Discover The World At Ease

“My goal was to reduce the stress and anxiety of disabled travellers and enable them to discover and experience the world independently while helping the hotels and hosts to solve the issue of lack of accessibility information.”

Travellers can now simply click on the mobility differentiation icon on Handiscover’s website to find accommodations adapted to their specific needs, instead of calling and mailing every hotel or host to check the accessibility and still not be 100% confident that it will be as told.

An Advanced Technology To Validate Accessibility

Our system is based on the host answering a comprehensive questionnaire about accessibility. Then their answers are processed by our algorithm, which classifies the properties into our three different mobility categories. The hosts can never decide on their own level of accessibility.

“We find it very often that people claim or think their places are fully accessible due to lack of knowledge or understanding of accessibility. For example, some places might have accessible rooms but steps up to the reception. Our goal is to help our users find adequate accommodations and facilitate communication between hosts and guests, before completing the booking on Handiscover.”

On Handiscover’s website, all the properties are listed with photographs to show, for example, the accessibility of a car park, a building entrance, a room entrance, a toilet, shower, a bathroom a doorway, a bedroom and a kitchen (if any).
