Recovering Confidence Through Aesthetic Prosthesis

Restaurant Tech Live blog post 4

Realistic external aesthetic prosthetics are a great solution for patients who where born or have gone through the loss of a part of their bodies. It’s a solution that focuses on the emotional well-being of a person, not only because of the realism but also because of the fact that there is no surgical intervention needed at any point of this process.

When it comes to congenital cases, some people decide to go through invasive surgical procedures that may not meet their expectations. These people reach out to the Dianceht team having different outlooks for a solution to their needs. Thesey are tired, and even sceptical, after so many treatments. When they see the realism in the prosthetics, they start to raise their hopes. When the ailing is congenital, the acceptance of their situation comes more naturally due to the fact that they have lived with it since birth. The adjustment has taken place as they have been growing up.

There has been cases in which after using a prosthetic, the person decides to go through a last surgical procedure to get rid of the remnants of previous interventions and make our prosthetic a final solution.

In cases of sudden loss, such as an accident or illness, the patients have gone through a traumatic experience and that entails a grieving process within itself. In these cases, it is more common for the patient to try to hide their missing body part. There have been cases when, as a result of denial, the person has not been able to look at their thump or scaring until the prosthetic was in place. Many of them are also fearful of facing crowds or even friends and family.

Realistic aesthetic prostheses are able to make the missing body part unnoticeable to other people. In their office, the Dianceht team has seen the change and impact on the person’s life once the prosthetic is set in place. This effect can be noticed gradually, as days go by, or immediately, depending on each person’s previous history. In general, when the case is congenital, the effect can be hard to take in, since they are used to their missing part since birth. At the beginning, having a prosthetic in its place may take some getting used to.  People with new prosthetic ears may feel big-eared and people with finger prosthetics may feel the finger is too long. However, in both cases, it’s the brain playing tricks and adjusting to the new member.

As soon as they leave the Dianceht office, they begin a self-esteem recovery process. The prosthetic can be perceived as a tool for regaining self confidence and ending the grieving process. Some patients may only use the prosthetic for a short period of time and others may use it for life.

The prosthetic can help the patients re-join their scholar, social and working environments. This is very important, since without it, it can be a challenge due to the poor reaction of society, that can result in rejection or bullying. The prosthetic can give them enough confidence and strength to deal with these situations or even avoid them overall. Once the prosthetic is being used, some patients are able to face their family, friends and colleagues as they sought.

It’s very encouraging to see patients who use the prosthetic due to illness, drugs, accidents or congenital conditions, comment about the changes in their lives being positive and real. Getting to know their patients and receiving their observations on how the prosthetics have improved their quality of life, motivates the Dianceht team to improve itself, as well as inspire it to aim for different challenges in solving new conditions.

Dianceht has received people with all kinds of backgrounds, such as athletes, people in sales, public relations, actors, carpenters, farmers, doctors and children. They all have lived a similar experience and have similar hopes of what the prosthetic may offer. At the end of the process, the final and most important proof of their inner change is the attitude and smile on the patients' faces.
