Today’s world is filled with choices, we are bombarded with different brands of products, clothing, holidays, assistive technology, household goods, the list could go on forever. In addition to the exceptionally wide range of goods available, you then have to decide where you want to buy it from, it is not as easy as just visiting a shop and purchasing the item you want, now we trawl the internet viewing products on countless different websites offering varying discounts, offers or free delivery options and you can read customer reviews and ratings on almost anything.
While I agree that choice and options are always a good thing, it can be hard to know how to make the right decision, especially when it comes down to products and services that are going to play a big part in your independence. Shopping online is simple and generally hassle-free, avoiding the challenge of tackling potentially inaccessible shops, busy streets and public transport, however if you are looking to purchase a larger mobility product it is much more reassuring to get a demonstration and test out the product to ensure it is exactly what you are looking for. This is where attending events and exhibitions like Naidex can be hugely beneficial.
Exhibitions dedicated to independent living bring together companies that provide wheelchairs, scooters, walking aids, daily living aids, accessible holidays, toys for disabled children, beds, kitchens, homelifts, stairlifts and so much more, all under one roof in an accessible venue.
At PosAbility Magazine we have been attending events like Naidex for years and it is clear to see the benefits for visitors. The opportunity to see the products, to touch them, test them out and ask as many questions as you can think of is invaluable. After all you are speaking to the experts in these products so what better way to reassure yourself that you are making the right decision.
What’s more, many organisations do special promotions and offers at exhibitions to attract more customers so you may find you secure yourself a great deal!
My one piece of advice to visitors would be to plan your day. These exhibitions are vast and busy and it can be an ambitious plan to get around in one day if you are keen to look at everything. Some people make an overnight stay out of it to ensure they can make the most of the exhibition without tiring themselves out too much. Take a look at the Naidex website to see what companies are attending. If there are specific products or companies you want to speak to take a note of their stand number so you know where you are going when you arrive. You will more than likely be side-tracked by other innovative offerings but at least you will have a plan of where you need to end up!
I will be on stand N3143 with PosAbility Magazine, I look forward to seeing many of you there.
